April 1st to June 30th, 2025 Chase Freedom Flex Offer 5% cashback on Amazon purchases and choose a streaming service (up to $1,500 in quarterly spending, 1% back after limit. Note that activation is required). From June 1st to June 30th, there are additional bonus categories (Internet, Cable, Telephone Services) that count towards the same $1,500 quarterly spending limit.
My family usually spends around $400 a month on Amazon. This will cost you as much as you normally would, totaling $1,200 in April, May and June. You may need to think outside the box to maximize your $1,500 promotional limit.
Internet, cable and telephone services do not help us as they receive Autopay discounts from providers over 5% when paying by bank transfer (ACH transaction). Certainly, these transactions are incentives as they are cheaper for merchants to process than credit card purchases.
Streaming services don’t help us either. American Express Blue Cash Preferred Card.
The best way for my family to maximize the Q2 Freedom Flex category
Both can be done:
- We have Amazon purchases in stock. In the future, you can buy things you know will be necessary in the future, such as toiletries, paper products, and fresh foods.
- Buy gift cards from Amazon. This is considered an advance in Amazon spending in the third quarter, and you can load your Amazon gift card during the promotion and use it later. It is also worth noting that Amazon sells a variety of gift cards to other retailers. This is my favorite tip as you can maximize your cashback with other purchases like Starbucks, Doordash, Uber, or another merchant selling gift cards on Amazon.com. Extend your contract to additional types of expenditures that are not eligible if you purchase directly from other companies.
Q2 Category is wider than you think
Everyone should have a good way to make the most of Freedom Flex’s $1,500 limit in the 5% bonus category this spring. Like I said, Amazon already sells a large amount of products, so it’s a potential Goldmine for Goldmine. Plus, the possibilities for gift cards are almost limitless.
If you haven’t yet got at least 5% on streaming services, internet, cable, or telephone services, then those are solid free flex options for the second quarter. If you set up automatic payments, change your payment method after the quarter if you have better revenue for the rest of the year with a different card.
For example, moving your SiriusXM or YouTube TV subscription to quarter Freedom Flex for a 5% streaming reward would likely be better if you return to 1% from July 1st (or if you reach the $1,500 quarterly spending limit). If you have another cashback card that gives everything a 2% backback, you’ll want to go back to it once the Freedom Flex promotion is over.
Also, don’t forget that Internet, cable and telephone services only won 5% on Freedom Flex in June. Meanwhile, Amazon and streaming services will earn 5% in April, May and June. However, all purchases count towards spending up to $1,500.
Double Internet, cable and telephone services in June
If it’s strategic about timing, you can potentially cram in two months’ worth of internet, cable and telephone payments through June. Let’s say your invoice is scheduled for the 10th of each month. To earn 5% on two billing cycles, you can make a June 10 payment between June 1st and 10th, and you can pay your July 10th bill in late June.
Freedom Flex’s Q2 category has a powerful subscription component. I’m sure Chase wants to designate Freedom Flex as Amazon’s go-to card. Streaming; And forget to change in Q3 and beyond when the internet, cables and phones in the second quarter, then when the rewards return from 5% to just 1%. However, you can get 1% or more from many other reward cards, so once the promotion is over, place a reminder in your calendar to switch.
Conclusion
The second quarter category for Freedom Flex is not as slam dunk as last year, when most cardholders included Amazon, restaurants and hotels in the spring of 2024. While this year’s slate isn’t that appealing, it still offers cardholders a good opportunity to plan a little and maximize their rewards.
