I’m Points and miles Essentially guru. I’m doing my best job of doing almost nothing to do with luxury travel expenses these days Travel to Australia. But I was also a father and I ran into the expense of not being able to get a magic wand – my child’s tuition fees.

Still, I’m always trying. I wanted to do everything I could to cover these costs so I had to think outside the box to determine the best way to do it Maximize your credit card rewards About this inevitable cost. Finally, I decided to use the intro APR card for this spending. Here’s what kind of payment we faced and why this card was the best choice.

Evaluation of childcare costs

One of the most expensive costs of being a parent is Childcare. Whether you pay day care or tuition fees, Cost of raising your child What is important. These costs can quickly drain your budget and savings, even before taking into account what’s going on inflation problem.

When my wife and I began planning for our children, the cost of childcare was an issue we had taken into consideration in advance. Due to the state of the local school system, it was important for us to be able to afford private schooling so that our children could receive the best education. We looked at a few factors and decided how to do this.

After looking into these numbers, with a lot of careful thought, we decided that having one child would be our best chance to achieve this goal.

This difficult decision isn’t for everyone, but it felt like the best path to achieving educational goals without sacrificing the full personal goals or being forced into a difficult future budgeting decision. It was the right move for us. So let’s fast forward to how we decided to do our best. I pay this significant cost.

What were our tuition options?

Going through several application processes for future kindergarteners (and recovering from) Tuition Fee Sticker Shock), we settled in school. When summer rolled, the school offered three payment options, five-digit fees.

  • Pay the same amount divided over 12 months
  • Pay every six months (half in advance) and receive a 2% discount
  • Pay in full before the start of the academic year and receive a 4% discount

The easiest way to manage your budget is to pay each month, but receiving a 4% discount will save you around $1500. I thought it was the best option to find a way to pay in full to lock up my savings as I have to pay this fee anyway.

Find the ideal way to pay

My priorities were to pay the school in full and then sort it out after the facts. I knew I could use my credit card knowledge (and Arsenal credit card) to buy the time I needed to properly manage my costs. Looking at my finances, I estimated that a year would be a manageable time frame to handle expenses.

The ideal choice is High welcome offer And pay that way, I still need to step into the bill completely. This would be too much to handle everything at once. Thankfully, almost every situation has credit cards, and after a bit of thought, the path to the future has been cleared.

How 0% interest card helped

Taking a ton of money from your account will definitely affect your ability to pay for many of our essentials. Zero-Interest Card. These cards allow large tuition fees to be more comfortable funded than budgets and prevent them from getting even more immersed in their savings.

Of course there is Zero conflict card from strengths and weaknesses. You must repay these expenses within the specified time frame Don’t fall into a trap of debt. This isn’t always easy: 54% of people with credit card debt Let’s say it’s become difficult to pay it off over the past year.

To avoid missing payments, we looked into the time frame we wanted among other secondary perks, including available intro APR cards, reward rates at the time of purchase, welcome offers, and long-term possibilities for cards in the wallet. In my situation, the cards that offer the best blend of these features are Wells FargoActiveCash® card. This card offers 12 months intro APR with new purchases, providing a decent welcome bonus, solid one 2% flat rate cashback.

By charging this card, you can pay your balance in equal installments so that you will be fully repaid by the end of the 12-month time frame. By choosing this route, I not only locked up a 4% tuition discount, but also got a 2% cashback and a welcoming bonus. I don’t get category bonuses from this cost anywhere else, so the high fees and the intro APR cards were the ideal choice for me.

Rewards/Discounts total
Tuition discount appx. $1500
Cash rewards earned appx. $300
Welcome offer $200
Total savings appx. $2,000

Also, the high flat fees on cards will add solidly to your wallet even after paying off your child’s tuition fees, so you’ll definitely use them for spending that won’t earn a bonus on other cards in the future.

Conclusion

Raising children is expensive. Finding an indirect way to save money at major expenses for your kids, like tuition fees can help you Manage your budget More effective. If you cannot pay in full immediately, Zero card on the right You can provide the breathing chamber you need to cover the costs, but ideally provide a decent reward.
