IFA has two major mortgage programs: Firsthome and Homes at Iowans. Both have income and purchase price restrictions, with a minimum credit score requirement of 640, but in some cases you may be able to qualify for other financial and income information. Firsthome and homes in the Iowans program include traditional FHA, VA, and USDA loans.

IFA Military Home Ownership Support Program

IFA’s Military Home Ownership Support Program We provide a $5,000 grant to support qualified service members, veterans and surviving spouses. It can be paired with either Iowans Mortgage’s Firsthome or home, or used on a non-IFA mortgage (but applicants must use an IFA-approved lender). However, funding for this program may be limited, so it is important to check with IFA to see what is currently available.

HomeBuyer Moines Support Program

Des Moines City Funding to residents through some nonprofit organizations. These nonprofit organizations are available at Home, Inc. , Greater Des Moines Habitat for Humanity, Neighborhood Finance Corporation, and Neighborhood Development Corporation.

Neighborhood Finance Corporation HomeBuyer Assistance Program

Neighborhood Finance Corporation (NFC) is one of the organizations that partner with the City of Des Moines. We offer advantage purchase loans that help eligible home buyers in designated NFC lending areas access affordable funding, down payments, closure costs assistance, and renovation support.

Buyers can qualify for a generous renovation loan of up to $10,000 when using NFC Finance to buy a home. The program also offers first mortgages up to $250,000 and second mortgages up to 15% Loans and Value (LTV). Additionally, the program will provide postponed assistance for both down payments and closing costs.

Iowa City Down Payment Support
