Transfer bonuses are one of the best ways to increase your points even further. Banks regularly offer these bonuses when they transfer points to one of their loyalty partners.

Examples of programs that offer transfer bonuses include thanks from American Express Membership Rewards, Capital One Rewards, Chase Ultimate Rewards and Citi. Typical bonus range is 10-40%. This means you can book award flights and hotels significantly less.

But staying above the latest transfer promotions is easier than that. Luckily we did our job for you. There are all the points transfer bonuses you currently have and everything you need to know to take advantage of them.

How to Maximize Transfer Bonus Offers

Strategically used point transfers help you travel around the world with deep discounts. Here are some tips to help you make the most of your transfer bonus.

  • Beware of the transfer bonus. These are limited time offers that are easy to miss. When planning a trip, check which bonuses you have, if you have, if there are anything your credit card issuer can offer.
  • Do not transfer points speculatively. This applies even during bonus points promotions. After transferring points, it is best practice to quickly redeem them to minimize the odds of devaluation. Since transfers are irreversible and royalty points can be devalued without notice, you don’t want to leave a devalued reward before you have the opportunity to use them.
  • Determine if the transfer bonus offers good value. To do this, check the card’s point value and compare it with the value obtained from the transfer (with bonus). If the value is not there, it may not be worth it.

At the same time, remember: perfection is the enemy of good. You don’t always get top-notch tickets for the Bahamas for Penny from all transfer bonuses, but you can still save plenty of money.

“I found a one-way flight to Lisbon, Portugal, but booking it right away wasn’t an urgent one, so I decided to wait for the Chase Transfer Bonus.” “We’re trying to travel as much as possible using points and miles, so saving thousands of points with the Transfer Bonus could mean an additional night or extra experience during the holidays. My patience paid off quickly with a 25% bonus on the Flying Blue Transfer so I moved 48,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards to my Flying Blue Account and received 12,000 miles.”

American Express Transfer Bonus

Amex currently has one transfer bonus offer.

program Transfer bonus End date
Qatar Airways Privileged Club 20% March 31, 2025

AMEX Points currently relocates to more than 20 different airlines and hotel partners, with a predominant 1:1 ratio. For example, point transfers to partners such as Delta Skymiles and Air France-KLM Flying Blue are 1:1 ratios, while Hilton Honors transfers are more advantageous at 1:2. Another exception is Aeromexico Rewards, offering 1,600 miles for every 1,000 points.

Despite the preferred transfer ratio, consider how many points are worth before transferring to your partner program. For example, bank rates evaluate AMEX membership rewards at up to 2.0 cents each, depending on where you transfer points.

Meanwhile, Hilton’s honor points are worth 0.6 points, while Marriott Bonvoy Points are worth 0.7. It is worth noting that when booking a prepaid hotel on the Amex Travel portal, you can redeem your Amex points for 0.7 cents each. Transferring directly to Marriott can also be broken, but transferring to a low-value transfer partner like Hilton will lose potential value.

However, in certain circumstances, a move to Hilton still makes sense. If points are required for small amounts of specific awards or high-end redemption, you will need to make a transfer. With bonuses, you can earn more points and save on your hotel stay.

Capital One Mile Transfer Bonus

Capital One has over 15 airlines and hotel partners. Currently there is one transfer bonus.

program Transfer bonus End date
Etihad Guest 20% to 9,999 miles
30% to 49,000 miles

Some of the Capital Transfer Partner Programs include:

  • Air France-KLM Flying Blue
  • British Airways Executive Club
  • Selection privilege
  • Virgin Atlantic Virgin Red

Track the ultimate reward transfer bonus

Chase doesn’t run the transfer bonus as often as American Express, and currently runs two transfer bonuses.
