Best City Credit Card with Balance Transfer Offer

City is an advertising partner.

Balance Transfer allows you to transfer a high profit balance to a new card with a low APR or a 0% of a limited time. This allows cardholders facing credit card debt to repay without acquiring more interest fees.

Like other major credit card issuers, Citi offers several intro APR cards for a limited time, with purchases, balance transfers, or both. Some of these balance transfer cards offer rewards or very long intro periods.

Know that balanced transfers from one city card to another are not permitted. If you have debts on your City Card, look for a balance transfer offer from another issuer.

How to choose a Balance Transfer City Card

If you have a balance transfer card set up from City, here are a few determinants.

  • Calculate the required balance transfer intro period. Some City Balance Transfer Cards offer the longest intro period on the market in 21 months. Others offer 18 or 15 months, but the ongoing card perks are improving. Depending on the amount of credit card debt you want to transfer, it may take more or less time to repay interest-free.
  • Compare prices with APR. Some City cards are very similar, with the only difference being the no charge for one card (simple card) and slightly lower APR (Diamond Preferred+ Card). If you’re worried, those perks are worth considering as payments may be delayed or balanced after the intro period has ended.
  • Please select the type of reward you want to earn. You may not need to earn a reward – you only want enough time to pay off your balance. Alternatively, we recommend earning cashback with points. There is a City Balance Transfer Card for each option, so please select it accordingly.

How to use a city card for balance transfer

You can prequalify for a City Card, making it easy to know the approval odds for the cards you need. Once you have approved your card, it’s time to start transferring your balance.

Generally, approved credit limits are also balance transfer limits. Provides the issuer’s name, account number, and amounts to be transferred from other credit cards. Citi then contacts the issuer to repay the balance and transfers it to a new card.

When you open a new account, there are months set to carry your balance without earning interest fees. The goal is to pay off your debts before the normal APR begins. Alternatively, some debtors may focus on repaying other high profits while this balance is interest-free.

Please note that once the intro period ends, the cards function in the same way as any other cards. Interest charges will be charged on unpaid balances.

What’s next?

Conclusion

The best Citi Credit Card for balance transfers can provide you with a break from interest charges while paying off your credit card debt. However, the card you apply for will depend on how long you need to pay back your balance or whether you want to earn a reward. While City offers solid options in the world of balance transfers, you can also compare these options with the best balance transfer credit cards from other issuers.
